‘Pilpiyka’ Bai Bai Sunfly Napangardi’s Painting Of Her Country

No. PALYA-1467HR, $8,800.00Bai Bai has painted some of the country of her parents. This country is named Pilpiyka and is south of Yakka Yakka near Mintirr in the Great Sandy Desert.

The prominent, white, vertical line to the right of centre represents a kiliki (creek) and to the left of this are depicted tali (sand hills). The horizontal lines are the banks of the river and the lower left corner is the path Bai Bai would walk with her family during the ‘dry’ season. This part of the country has many trees.
