Urapuntja Artists URA0459

This painting was purchased through Urapuntja Artists, the artist’s community Art Centre in Utopia. Utopia, a wide-spread cluster of several smaller communities, lies 100 nms North North East of Alice Springs. The artwork was purchased by Helen Read in 2009 whilst visiting the artists.

Relatives present at the time described this painting as Sammy Apetyarre’s Country; the lines the sand-dunes running – and also representing the traditional long thin bone that is worn through the septum, the ‘Nose-Bone’.
