One of the past but increasingly recognised artists from Ngukurr community, South East Arnhem Land, Dinah Garadji (Garradji)’s painting expresses the joy and beauty the artist felt for her country.
With an innate sense of colour harmony and using confident brush strokes and ‘pattings’, the artist gives the viewer an insight into the majesty of her land and the importance of its features. Garadji’s image here encompasses clear dry skies and wet season clouds along with the lusciousness of local plant growth. Text Helen Read
